This morning on Fox News 25 I made a reference to the bracelet I wear with Tom Martin’s name etched on it. I called Tom and his platoon of Cav Scouts “real endurance athletes.” I mean that. Tom’s platoon walked nearly 1000 miles in full kit in the year before he was killed in Iraq.
Guys like Tom who have done heroic things over there - things far more heroic than running in circles on a track - are the motivation behind the 24 Hour Brigade.

David,
Congratulations on completing your mission, and thanks for the opportunity to be part of such a worthy cause. Your appearance on Channel 4’s morning show last week was very timely.
See, a couple days before you were on, I was getting infuriated as I read news items about the CIC’s recommendation that Vets with war injuries be covered by their private insurance carriers instead of the VA, and his stubborn refusal to reconsider it. I can’t find fit words to express how outraged I was at this insult to you and your fellow warriors.
Then I saw you on TV, and I knew I had to participate. Of course, by that evening, the news reports said that in fact, Mr. Obama did drop that hot potato. Well, maybe he changed his mind, but I’m not convinced he’s changed his heart. I guess that’s something we can’t know for certain, but David, know this…the CIC may turn his back on our armed forces, but decent Americans will NEVER let that stand.
Please pass on to your comrades that this fellow countryman is forever grateful to all of you for the sacrifices you make, for standing in the gap to defend my family, for giving your all. Of all people, you deserve our utmost respect and gratitude, nothing less.
I was encouraged to hear that you’re already making plans for another event next year. Bravo! Count me in.
Godspeed, David, and thank you again for your service to this nation.
